Dear Choir Members:
This is a chance to express my thanks to you for tonight's rehearsal.
It seemed everything was sung so musically, that it was a really
rewarding experience to hear. I thought "The Eyes of All" was
especially beautiful -- those close parts in "thou openest thine hand
and satisfieth...etc." came off wonderfully well -- but all the pieces
were a pleasure to listen to.
Also needing mention: I have heard several -- more than the usual
number -- appreciative comments about last Sunday's anthem ("Amen,
Siakudumisa"); thanks to Julie Zeidel for the drumming (congaing?), to
Linda and Randy for the solos, and to all for the spirited rendition.
I am looking forward to the upcoming Wednesday night rehearsals and
Sunday services to hear more good music.
Sincerely,
Allan

Wednesday night rehearsal
Dear Choir Members:
Thanks once more for all the beautiful music-making this past week,
making our worship together -- choir and congregation -- even more
meaningful.
Sunday morning I thought the first few "Alleluia" chords on the introit
with the bells and brass really took off and set the tone for the entire
Easter service. And I think the congregation truly enjoyed
participating -- in their various ways -- in the "Hallelujah" chorus.
And, it's worth repeating: Good Friday was a beautiful and meaningful
service -- made more-so by the good music and the good singing. The
opening and closing choruses never sounded better, and it seemed that
everyone was singing with a real sensitivity to the music and the text.
The soloists did a wonderful job, singing with the same sensitivity to
music and text. It was a very uplifting service for me; I hope it was
for you also.
Wednesday night's rehearsal can start right at 7:30 because there is no
inter-generational service this week. The Easter season continues for
several more Sundays, and we need to prepare anthems for those Sundays,
but at least we won't have quite so much music to go through as in the
past few weeks.
See you then -- and thanks again.
Sincerely,
Allan
