Intergenerational Choir This Sunday

Dear Choir Members (specifically the choir women, I guess):

This Sunday is the date for the intergenerational women and girls choir,
and I am hoping that many, if not all, of you are available to sing.
The plan is to meet at 8:30 Sunday morning to rehearse an introit and an
anthem, then sing them at the 9:30 service. I think there might be a
couple of potential new choir members coming to sing; thus I hope we
will have a good group of regular choir members present to encourage
them. And I think the music will be fun and rewarding to sing.

So if you are available Sunday morning at 8:30, please come to sing and
lead the way. And thanks to all for your year-round devotion.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" Takes the Stage July 11-14

Stillwater Community Theatre  is presenting "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" July 11-14, 2013. The 85 person cast of community members (50 of which are youth grades 3 and up) has been rehearsing since May to bring this classic musical to the stage at Stillwater Area High School.

There are a total of four performances: July 11, 12 and 13 at 7 p.m. and July 14 at 2 p.m. General admission tickets are now on sale. Adult tickets are $15, seniors/students are $10 and children (5 and under) are $5. Tickets can be ordered online here or in person during business hours at the Community Education office through July 10 at 1875 S. Greeley St., Stillwater. Tickets may be available at the door, however, seating is limited.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" introduces us to patriarch Jacob who lived happily with his dozen sons, but his favoritism for the bright Joseph, symbolized by the gift of a spectacular multi-colored coat, makes his brothers so jealous that they end up selling him as a slave and staging his death. Joseph rises in the service of wealthy Potifar, but is falsely accused of shenanigans with his wife and eventually jailed. His gift of dream-telling, however, wins him Pharaoh's favor and becomes second in command - put in charge of planning for the predicted famine. When famine finally arrives, Joseph's brothers come to beg for food, not recognizing their long-lost sibling. It is time for reckoning, but nobility and forgiveness prevail as the family is once more united.

Thanks

Dear Church Choir:

Thanks so much to you who were able to make it last Sunday to sing the
"Battle Hymn of the Republic." Along with the volunteers, it was really
nice to have a full choir loft. As I mentioned after the service, it
was one of the more hectic Sunday mornings in recent memory, but it's
always amazing how you all rise to the occasion, and on Sunday led the
singing of an inspiring anthem. I hope the occasion was as rewarding to
you as it was to me.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,
Allan

P.S. An early reminder of the date for the intergenerational women and
girls choir: July 28th. If you are in town, I hope you can come that
morning.

Battle Hymn of the Republic

Dear Choir Members:

This coming Sunday, July 7th, is the day, of course, that the Lord has
made! But -- it's also the day for singing "Battle Hymn of the
Republic." The plan is to rehearse starting at 8:30, then sing as the
postlude to the 9:30 service. As you will recall, this is an open-choir
Sunday: anyone, young and old, children and adults are invited to come
sing with us. But as you know, it is a great help to have regular choir
members make up the nucleus of the group. So I hope you can come to
lead the way. We have lined up a great piccolo player (Casey Kovacic --
she was with us last year on this occasion) and a great snare-drummer
(Julie Zeidel) along with our own great organist (you know who) to
accompany, and it will be great to sing together.

8:30 a.m. this Sunday -- hope to see you then. And bring a guest singer
along.

Allan
