Reminder for Sunday

Dear Choir:

Just a reminder that we will meet for rehearsal at 8:30 this Sunday
morning; you will recall from Wednesday night's rehearsal (a great
rehearsal, by the way -- Thanks!!) that we have several things to sing
at the service. I hope everyone will be able to be present by 8:30 so
that we will have time to practice each of these things.

Thanks for all your good singing.

Sincerely,
Allan

Sunday

Dear Choir:

Just a reminder that the choir is not singing this Sunday. (You're
welcome to show up early anyway, of course, just to keep in practice and
to do your daily vocalizing, but it's quite possible that you will be
the only one there at that hour!)

Next Wednesday night is an important rehearsal, since the plan is to
sing two anthems on Sunday, the 29th ("Still, Still With Thee" with
Nancy Breed, flute, and "Poor Man Lazrus"). I'm not sure we're quite
comfortable yet with either one of these, so I hope everyone can be
there next Wednesday night.

See you then, if not before. And thanks again for your patience,
devotion, and singing.

Allan

P.S. And just to plan ahead, we'd better have rehearsal at 8:30 on that
Sunday morning, the 29th, to be sure we have enough time to put
everything together.

Meals for Donna Barlass

Dear Choir:

Just a reminder that we need people to help Donna by providing meals
during her illness. Let me know if you are interested in doing that. Linda

Tonight's Presbytery Choir

Dear Choir:

What a great turnout we had this evening for the Presbytery worship
service. Although we missed those who were unable to be there, we did
have a goodly group. And the preacher of the evening (his name escapes
me at the moment) after the service told me "it was beautiful." I
agree. Thanks again.

Allan

P.S. No rest for the weary, however; we still need to have rehearsal
Wednesday night. See you then.

Choir Singing at Presbytery

Just wanted to remind everyone of the plans for Tuesday night, when we
sing at the closing worship service for the Presbytery meeting:

We will meet at 6:30 in the choir room downstairs to put on robes and
run through the anthem. The Presbytery schedule indicates that the
worship service will start at 6:50. We will be missing a few people, so
I hope that everyone else will be able to be there. For those who are
working in the kitchen/dining room for the evening meal, I will have
more specific information tomorrow about the actual order of the
service, and if necessary we can come and get you so you will have time
to put on your robe and pick up your music: it would really be helpful
to have you sing with us so that we have a good contingent represented.

Thanks very much for the great job on Sunday -- and for an equally great
job, I am sure, tomorrow night.

Choir!!

Dear Choir:

Choir starts this Wednesday night at 7:30, and I look forward to seeing
you then. I think I have scheduled some nice music for the weeks ahead,
and I hope you will enjoy singing it.

There are a couple of things to discuss Wednesday evening:

1) The choir has been asked to sing at the worship service which
closes the Presbytery meeting this coming Tuesday, the 10th. That
service begins at 7:00 p.m. and will last about 45 minutes. We would
sing something we can pick up very quickly, which we would practice
Wednesday night. It is a nice opportunity to sing for others beyond our
own congregation, but before finally committing us to participate, I
need to know if everybody can make it.

2) You will recall that we have routinely not been singing one
Sunday each month when the incarnational service was scheduled. However,
as you know, those services have been discontinued, and we should talk
about how, or if, our recent schedule should be adjusted. Two
possibilities come quickly to mind:

a) Return to the schedule we followed for some years
where the choir sings each Sunday, but with all choir members, as
always, having the complete freedom to miss any Sundays on which they
have other plans.

b) Regularly take the Sunday off when the Bells of the
Valley are scheduled to play, and the ringers would provide the special
music (anthem) as well as introit and benediction music, as necessary.
The Sunday on which the bells play is generally the second Sunday of
each month, occasionally the fourth Sunday instead, but rarely any other
Sunday of the month. Carol Trombley does set the bells-schedule for the
entire church year by the beginning of September always, so we would
know in advance what Sundays the Sanctuary Choir was not scheduled to sing.

There may be other alternatives I haven't thought of;
if so bring them up Wednesday night. And think about your preference.
Incidentally, Cader and Carol are both comfortable with either of the
above paths.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday evening.

Allan
