Thanks, et al.

Dear Choir:

Thanks for all the expenditure of time, talent, and effort over the last
several weeks to prepare the music for Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. I
hope that the services and the music were as rewarding for you as they
were for me.

Just wanted to urge everybody to try to make it to the next couple of
weeks of rehearsal, since we have some challenging pieces coming up,
including very soon the Palestrina piece with the soprano saxophone.
But I hope all the upcoming music will be rewarding, also.

See you then -- and thanks again.

Sincerely,

Allan

Friday night/Sunday

Dear Choir:

The music at last night's service was quite lovely, including ours. (And
the processional was dignified and stately, as if we did this all the time.)

Sincere thanks for your patience and skill.

Allan

P.S. See you Sunday morning at (gasp!) 7:30. I hope we can begin right
on time, since we have quite a bit of music to rehearse. Thanks again.

Address of Ascension Episcopal Church

Dear Choir:

Most of you are probably familiar with the location of Ascension Episcopal Church on Third Street, but for anyone who isn't clear about its location, I offer the following correction to my earlier email about the schedule:

The entrance to the church is actually on Third Street -- 214 Third Street N., to be exact.  (The location I gave previously is the address of the church office, I guess.  Sorry about any confusion.)  The parking ramp referred to is also on Third Street across from the church.

Whatever -- see you tonight at 6:15.

Thanks.

Schedule for this weekend

Dear Choir:

Here is the schedule for the Good Friday service:

6:15 p.m.  - Meet at Ascension Episcopal Church, 215 N. 4th Street.  Parking on street or in ramp across the street from the church.  (Do not park in the library ramp; it is locked at 8:00 p.m.)

Bring your robe, folder, and music for the two pieces we are singing ("Lamb of God" and "Blizzard Anthems").

The service starts at 7:00 and will probably last a bit longer than one hour.

If you are able to offer a ride to any of the pre-service walkers, please do so.

Here is the schedule for Easter Sunday (Don't forget to bring your robe and folder with you!):

7:30 a.m. -- Meet in sanctuary for rehearsal.  (As usual, we will be pressed for time.  No need to put on robes before rehearsal.  There will be time afterwards.)

If possible, please stay through both services, since we will have music to sing throughout the service.
                                            Service times:  8:30 and 11:00

Breakfast is served between the worship services.

Thank you very much for the beautiful singing and for all the time you have put in during this important part of the church year.

    Sincerely,

                        Allan

Upcoming Schedule

Dear Choir:

In case it was difficult to keep all the details of the somewhat confusing schedule for the week leading up to Easter, here is a repeat of the essentials for this Sunday (Palm Sunday):

Meet at the usual time of 8:45, but we will rehearse in the dining room instead of the choir loft.

Folders will be in the cart outside the dining room door.

    NO ROBES.

At some point before the service the bells will join us and we will practice the processional hymn.

Looking ahead to Good Friday:
We will meet at Ascension Episcopal Church at 6:15 p.m..
Bring robes (but no stoles) and music with you.
    Service begins at 7:00 p.m.

Thanks for singing.

Daylight Saving Time

Dear Choir:

No doubt everyone is already attuned to setting clocks ahead one hour on
Sunday morning. But perhaps one more reminder won't hurt.

Also, since we have a lot of musical stuff to deal with on Sunday
morning, I hope we can begin rehearsal promptly at 8:45 (one hour ahead,
of course -- [one more reminder]). If you are able to make it just at
the last minute, please come directly to the choir loft; there's always
time to get robes on between the end of rehearsal and the start of the
service.

Also on everyone's calendar, I'm sure, is the Music with a Mission
concert at 4:00 Sunday afternoon. It will be a fabulous program --
great music and great musicians -- with candlelight!

Thanks very much for your devotion and great singing -- with or without
candlelight!

Sincerely,
Allan
