No Choir Rehearsal
You have probably already received the email from Cader canceling all
activities at the church until Thursday; I just wanted to confirm that
choir rehearsal this Wednesday night will also be canceled.
Let's plan to meet at 8:30 on Sunday morning: that will give us a
little more time to practice the music for the service (plus give the
weather a little more time to warm up!).
I hope you can all stay out of the cold.

Choir not singing this Sunday
Just wanted to be sure that everyone heard the message: the bells are
playing this Sunday, so the choir will not be singing.
Thanks for the good rehearsal tonight. Have a good weekend.

Reflections
Robert Shaw once said that the greatest moments in rehearsal may never
quite be captured in the performance. I believe we proved him wrong --
with last Sunday's anthem, at least, which went better when we sang it
during the worship service than it ever had during any rehearsal. More
members of the congregation than usual commented on how nice the anthem
was, and that the African/Swahili feel really came through. Maybe we
should look more deeply into the Music Man's "Think" method!!
Anyway, thanks to Erin and all of you for pulling it off. See you
Wednesday night.

Re: Clearing up confusion on free tickets for Minnesota Orchestra concert
Wednesday night, I forgot to remind you of the opportunity for free tickets to the MN Orchestra's concerts this weekend. The information I had at that time is that the tickets were available for Sunday afternoon's performance. It turns out that the response was so large that they ran out of donated tickets. However, they are now offering some free seats for the Saturday evening 8:00 p.m. concert.
To order Saturday-night tickets, which will be emailed to you, use the same link as in my original message:

I hope you will be able to attend the concert.
Thanks.

Fwd: Minnesota Orchestra: American Nomad comps/survey link
Here's information about complimentary tickets to hear the Minnesota Orchestra concert this coming Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Be sure to note that a major work on the program is by Steve Heitzeg -- who wrote the "Peace Carol" anthem we sang on Christmas Eve, and is also the composer of "I Pray to the Birds," written for our (Linda and me, that is) 50th wedding anniversary, and which the choir sang at church last spring on choir appreciation Sunday.
This is a really good deal. Hope you might be able to take advantage of it.

Also on the program, Florence Price's Symphony No. 1. Price was an award-winning pianist and composer who became the first African-American woman to have her work performed by a major orchestra.

Choir not singing tomorrow
The bells are providing the special music tomorrow, so the choir will
not be singing. However, you won't want to miss three of our own
royalty providing the king and queen solos in "We Three Kings of Orient
Are."
And, even though none of us will be in the choir loft, that great carol
will give you a chance to practice singing a hymn without looking at the
music constantly: on the refrain!!! ["Oh...,Star of Wonder, Star of
night; star with royal beauty bright, westward leading, etc....."].
Thanks to all.
