Dear Choir:
It seems strange, now, that just a couple of weeks ago I wondered if I had bitten off more than chewable with all those Messiah choruses. But, not to worry! At last Wednesday night's rehearsal it was clear that things had really come together -- and that realization came through wonderfully on Sunday. Thanks very much for all the hard work and extra time put in by everybody to make this great -- and challenging -- music a moving and meaningful part of the worship service. There were even some people who don't usually comment on the music, who expressed thanks for our doing these pieces. One of them added, "With Messiah you can't go wrong." (Little did he know, that there were in fact a number of places where one could go wrong with notes or rhythms! But he is absolutely right, as he meant, that it is great music, and he appreciated our singing of it.)
I would dearly love to do it all again -- but perhaps not right away! So let's take off the next several months to recuperate before we start again. And thanks for all the rewarding music-making of the past year.
