Have I told you all how much I miss making music with you? What a hole this is in my week. Is there someone technological enough for us to do a choir anthem together apart? Please?

The community is mourning the loss of a wonderful human being. Dave played at Trinity and in the St. Croix Valley for ~45 years - probably more because he was the organist at Ascension Episcopal Church for awhile, also. Dave was an outstanding organist and loved playing the organ. He could get around the keys easily and made music sound effortless. In addition, Dave had a beautiful bass voice and oftentimes accompanied himself on the organ and piano when he sang at weddings and funerals. He must have played thousands of services throughout the valley in his lifetime and simply walked in, played the service and carried on. Dave was non-judgmental, humorous, cool and laid back, and always had time to visit with friends and acquaintances. He was a servant of the church and its music. When Dave didn't accompany a choir he sang in the bass section. He probably loved choral music as much as the organ.Dave and I were colleagues a long time, and many of you knew Dave. I grieve with you at this sad time when we can't wrap our arms around each other to provide comfort and solace. Please keep Dave's family and Trinity in your prayers during this time and may all of you know hope, peace and safety in the coming weeks. Thanks to Cathy Gillaspy for sending this beautiful rendition of When Peace Like a River to share with us. It seemed appropriate to have a beautiful organ accompaniment in this rendition - for Dave.Peace,Laura
