Re: RE: Last Sunday

Dear Choir,
Thanks for volunteering for the picnic next Wednesday, August 15th.

Here's the menu so far:
Fried chicken from Cub--60 pieces (The cost is a dollar a piece, so if you volunteered to donate $, plan on $10,) I have Todd, Mary, Anne, Bill, Curt, and Linda O chipping in.

Salads from Randy (coleslaw) and Anne (bean)  Could use one more, any kind.

Watermelon from Jim and Marlene

Bars from Gary and Joan. Could use 2 more pans. I will check with this week's crew to see if they have any left from tonight. They were trying to use up some of the leftovers.

I am planning to pick up the chicken at 5. We need three or four volunteers to be at the church by 5 to get things set up. We also need three or four to volunteer to clean up.  I plan to be on clean up.

Thanks again. Let's hope we have great weather. It's so much nicer to be outdoors. As I recall, we had rain last year.

In hope,

Linda R. Orsted

I'm sorry I had to miss it, although we did watch some of the service on facebook. Just a reminder to the choir: our next mission opportunity is August 15th. We are serving the Wednesday picnic. I am going to check out the cost of getting fried chicken from Cub if you are willing to contribute $ or donate side dishes. Any thoughts pro or con?

It was a really unique experience to get to break bread with these talented people and hear some of there stories. Hope they can visit again. Is there any possibility we can offer their CD at the AGM?

Dear Choir:

As many of you know, we had a great time last Sunday hosting the singers and instrumentalists of the South African ensemble, 29:11. Their music for the service was inspiring and rewarding to hear, there was a good attendance at the interesting education hour following the service, and the luncheon afterwards was a hit with everybody:  the members of the group were friendly, outgoing, and fun to talk with, and the food was especially good, including three kinds of soup (one, my favorite, made by Linda).

So thanks to all the choir members who stayed around to eat and chat with the group, and especially special thanks to all those who provided food, helped with the serving, and did clean-up afterwards:  Peter Ulland, for those delicious salads made from his garden; Mary Gillespie, veggies and potato salad (and made the coffee); Laura Edman, cookies; Dianne May and Noel White, brownies; Curt Jackson, watermelon.  All the aforementioned helped with the serving, clean-up, and dish-drying, along with Loraine Stoops, but honorable mention goes to Ken May, technically a non-choir member, who took charge of the dishwashing -- ably assisted by Rebecca Erickson.

So, to summarize, it was a really nice day, and the members of 29:11 were profusive in their thanks for our welcoming hospitality; they would like to come again, the next time they are in town.

Thanks to all the choir, for all you do for the church throughout the year -- through music, fellowship, and service to others.

Sincerely,
                Allan
