I will do the coffee, Linda. And I'll bring veggies. I can help with cleanup as well.

Subject: Help needed
(Full disclosure: this is from me -- Linda)
As you will recall First Presbyterian is hosting the 29:11 group from
South Africa at next Sunday's service. They will sing several times
during the service and are scheduled to talk during the education hour
afterwards about their work in South Africa. It promises to be a very
exciting day, and we are hoping that many of you, along with other
congregational members, will be able to attend this service and the
ensuing discussion.
They have asked us to provide them with a noon lunch following their
presentation, and I am writing to ask for help in putting this
together. In some preliminary planning it seemed that the best approach
would be to serve soup (from Costco -- often used for the Lenten
luncheons at the church and on other occasions), plus fruit and veggies
and dessert.
So, I am hoping some of you would be able to volunteer to help with all
this. We would need the following (Curt Jackson has already offered to
provide watermelon for the fruit):
1) A couple of people to provide the veggies (carrots, celery,
etc.)
2) A couple of people to provide a dessert (brownies, cookies,
pie, whatever)
3) Someone who knows how to run the dishwasher
4) Someone to make coffee
5) Help with set-up and clean-up
None of the above should be too much of a burden: there are only 12
people in the group, although it would be great to have any choir
members who might be available to stay and eat together with them.
I will be greatly appreciative for any volunteers -- the more, the merrier!
Linda
P.S. By the way, 29:11 is also performing this weekend as part of the
Minnesota Orchestra's "Music for Mandela" concerts and events: the
Friday night orchestra concert is now completely sold out, apparently
(Laura was able to snare some of the last few remaining tickets!), but
they are performing for free at 3:00 Saturday afternoon at Orchestra
Hall during the Orchestra's International Day of Music events.
